VISIT RIO DE JANIERO

RIO DE JANIERO

Signature Trip

ITINERARY

Flight from departure city.

Welcome to Rio! Head to your hotel and rest or enjoy a walk along a beach before exploring this beautiful South American city.

Day 2: Santa Teresa
Today you will tour the neighborhood of Santa Teresa. This neighborhood is one of Rio’s oldest, lined with cobblestone streets and interesting buildings. The highlight is Selarón’s Staircase(Escadaria Selarón), a set of 250 steps covered in tiles from all over the world. You will have some free time for a tasty lunch at Aprazível before returning to your hotel.

Day 3: Sugarloaf Mountain Tour
In the afternoon, you will be picked up for a thrilling tour of Sugarloaf Mountain.  En route to the mountain, you will pass by some of the city’s most important landmarks, including the Metropolitan Cathedral and Cinelandia Square.

Upon arrival, you will board a glassed-in cable car to ascent to the peak, stopping once at a scenic viewpoint. Upon reaching the top of Sugar Loaf at 1,299 feet (396 meters) above sea level, admire the views of Niteroi, Copacabana, and Santa Cruz Fortress.

Day 4: Free Day of Leisure in Rio

My recommendations are below:

  • Enjoy time at Copacabana Beach.

  • Take a stroll in the park to Park Lage.

Day 5: Christ the Redeemer
Today, enjoy an amazing tour to the Corcovado Mountain where you will see the statue of Christ the Redeemer. Corcovado Mountain towers over the vibrant Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. Originally, the mountain was called Pinaculo da Tentacao, which translates to ‘Pinnacle of Temptation’. This has Biblical references and was chosen by the Portuguese settlers of centuries ago. Later, it was renamed Corcovado, which refers to its ‘hunchback’ shape.

This mountain is notable, not only for its natural beauty and prime positioning but also because it is the foothold of the globally recognized statue called Christ The Redeemer. In the afternoon, enjoy a walking tour around the narrow streets and old historical buildings of downtown Rio.

The walk includes a visit to many interesting points, such as the SãoBento MonasteryCandelaria(the candle-makers), Praça XV, the “Travessa do Mercado”, Imperial Palace(Paço Imperial), the cultural center located in the beautifully-restored Banco do Brasil, the Casa França-Brasil, Ouvidor (the listeners) Street and Gonçalves Dias Street with the traditional Colombo Coffee Shop. The walk continues on down Uruguaiana Street, Carioca Square up to the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Day 6: Christ the Redeemer
Enjoy breakfast and then depart for US.
